VINJE
MUNICIPALITY
FILM - VINJE IS THE FUTURE
During the past year, Norway Communicates together with Film Director Rikard Amodei were invited to create several films that capture the heart of Vinje.
Here you can enjoy the result of this close collaboration with the municipality and many people who we interviewed and places that we filmed and visited.
Enjoy both the short and long film versions below as you discover the magic that is Vinje.
WELCOME TO VINJE
Welcome to Vinje, located in the southern region of the Hardangervidda. Here, there is an abundance of a thriving society. People, art, culture, education and business – in a place of stunning beauty.
Here you will find nature at its best. Meadows, pastures, rivers – and mountains. Of the 29 highest peaks in Telemark, only one – Gaustatoppen – is located outside of Vinje. People from all over Norway come winter and summer to experience Vinje’s rugged mountainous terrain and plentiful waterways to enjoy skiing, hiking, fishing, canoeing, mountain biking and many other activities.
It is also a place of arts, culture and famous for its traditional music and musicians. Since 1964 Rauland has since been part of the larger Vinje municipality. The local traditions of arts and crafts have been well maintained, and Rauland hosts a national academy for arts, crafts and traditional music.
Stay tuned to the Wild Telemark as we bring to you more about the Municipality of VInje in the future.
Vinje and the Rjukan-Notodden Industrial Heritage Site
Perhaps more than anything else in Vinje, it is the waters of the Møsvatn Lake that speaks for the historical legacy of the region. If not for the waters that originate here, the story of the Rjukan-Notodden Industrial Heritage Site would have been told in a completely different way – or not at all.
We take great pride to announce that a special VInje e-book, in Norwegian is now available free, online or download here.
