Norway Communicates AS is an Oslo-based company working with creative development of films and festivals, as well as marketing, PR and interactive media related to regional development within culture and education.
Our projects since 2020 include:

KRISTIANSAND FILM TOURISM/E-BOOK
Together with Ian Brodie, one of the foremost experts within Film Tourism, we are in the process of working with Kristiansand Municipality and southern Norway to develop film business and tourism.

UNESCO E-BOOK
The first ever UNESCO e-book, the story of the UNESCO Rjukan-Notodden Industrial Heritage Site. 250 pages of interactivity, videos, 1000+ photos, historical documentation, human-interest essays, facts, figures, architecture, trains, ships, design, and more.
Available in English and Norwegian, Apple and Android formats. The book is free of charge and can be downloaded here.
HALDEN INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FILM FESTIVAL
The most recent HIMF was staged in April of 2025. More than 1,000 visitors and participants at films, specialist programs and events during three days 18-20. April.

The 2025 edition of HIMF featured 3 Norwegian, 2 Swedish, 3 American and 2 British film, with a strong business program. The first day feature film music in collaboration with NOPA with a masterclass, a conversation with a female film composer and a debate about film music and AI.
​
Day two with the documentary as the theme with presenters from the BBC, NRK and debates about the responsibility to document the national cultural history. And debate about the development of the music documentary.
Next year's event will be staged from April 8 - 10, 2025. Stay tuned for more information on the Halden International Music Film Festival website.
SAMI FILM FESTIVAL
The Telemarken saemien festival will be a two-day festival consisting of film, music, exhibition, specialist program - and a special educational program designed for children
In Notodden, the heart of the "nationally romantic" Telemar, we will show that the Sami culture is truly national – not just in the north of the country. Stay tuned here for more details.
WILD TELEMARK
The Wild Telemark is region that was Norway’s ‘Wild West’, full of mystery, a land of natural beauty. Respected – and feared.
Visited by many thousands, the Wild Telemark website invites you into this mysterious and beautiful world where the glaciers of the last Ice Age have carved out steep mountains and deep valleys where crystal clear lakes and rivers, endless forests and high plains await your visit.

FILM
VINJE IS THE FUTURE
Together with Director Rikard Amodei and Vinje Municipality we have created a series of film designed to attract newcomers to this beautiful and affluent region in northern Telemark.
This is one of several project underway with Director Amodei, others including a major film as well as a documentary in development.
BLUESTOWN RISING
Together with Kings Mountain Productions, Producer David John Smith led this collaboration with “Little Steven” Van Zandt to create a classic story of a town that would not give up.
Resonating with anyone who has faced adversity but has overcome, viewing is currently limited to Norway, but an International version is currently in development that tells the story of the Notodden Blues Festival. Watch here.
NOTODDEN FILM CONFERENCE
A collaboration with the Sørnorsk filmsenter), this national conference brought together the top leaders with the film industry to discuss and debate.
Keynote speakers included Norway’s film commissioner Meghan Beaton, Steven Van Zandt (Lilyhammer, Sopranos), head of drama at NRK Ivar Køhn, Knut Inge Solbu (Rådebank), Ian Brodie (Lord of the Rings) and Marianne Furevold-Boland (Lykkeland and SKAM). More information here.
VINJE UNESCO QUIZ
Norway Communicates’ UNESCO work has resulted in world's first e-book about a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our passion is to now bring the story to the younger generations.
Together with Vinje Municipality we created the first e-book quiz, now in use in the schools in Vinje. We are now in a similar process with the Municipality of Notodden.
NOTODDEN OPPLEVELSER
Norway Communicates AS is a founding owner in this regional initiative designed to promote Notodden, the Gateway to the Wild Telemark. Created in 2023, this growing company has established a wide range of summer activities (including electric boats and surfing) waiting for this year’s tourists to the region.
